Horse Riding Winery Trail Adventure

Sunday 15th May 22

When I started the W.I.N.E.  Adventure Group the first Adventure I wanted to do was the Winery Trail Ride.  Now I am not sure why as I am certainly not fond of horses but I really wanted to do this and challenge myself to step outside my comfort zone.  So I set off with 12 other like minded women with very little riding experience amongst us for an afternoon we would never forget.

The trail was beautiful as we walked our horses at a pleasant pace through the outskirts of the Great Otway National Park.  The trail of horses was long and slow at times but our lovely guides made sure we were all safe and comfortable on our horses.  As our nerves disappeared, we relaxed and began to enjoy the ride and beautiful scenery.

Foxy, my trusted friend for the day was perfect.   Slow, steady and obedient, everything that a novice rider like me needed to get through the ride.  There were some shrieks and a lot of laughter as we enjoyed the tranquility of the National Park on our way to Moshulu Estate Winery.   However, Charlie one of the horses had other ideas and he decided he had had enough and needed to sit down much to the shock of his rider.  But after a shriek and a lot of laughter the rider was back on the horse and we set out again.

We arrived at the picturesque boutique Winery Moshulu Estate where we enjoyed a glass of red wine made from grapes on the property.  We shared tasting platters and pizzas while we all chatted away and got to know each other.  The service and food was excellent but soon it was time for the return trip back to Spring Creek where we enjoyed lots of trotting and even a canter for the more experienced riders as we arrived back just before dark.    This Adventure was so much fun. I am glad I stepped outside my comfort zone and challenged myself to try something new.  This is what W.I.N.E. Adventure Group is all about.

If you are considering a trail ride I highly recommend The Winery Trail Ride offered by Spring Creek Horse Rides.
