ANAKIE GORGE HIKE

Date:  Sunday 30th March

Time: 9:15am  (Please arrive by 9:00am)

Starting point:  Anakie Gorge Picnic Area

                          Gorge Rd Staughton Vale

Cost:  $35  for members

           $45 for non-members

Come and join us for this hike through the Brisbane Ranges National Park as we follow the Ted Errey Nature Circuit.  This 11km hike starts with a very steep climb up a rocky path to the top of the hill.  This will get your heart pumping but once we reach the top the trail flattens out for the rest of the hike.  We will walk along rocky paths, management trails and bush tracks as we weave our way past very large natives and grass trees.  We will stop at Nelson Lookout for a selfie or 2 as we take in some great views across the ranges to the reservoir.  The hike then continues on  before we  commence our descent  to the valley floor and back to the picnic area for a well earned lunch.

This hike should take approximately 2.5 to 3 hours to complete.

What to bring:

- At least 2 litres of drinking water (no drinking water available)

- Good sturdy shoes with lots of grip (could be slippery after rain)

-Hat

-Rain coat/jacket (if required)

- Small backpack to carry everything in

Anakie Gorge is located just past Anakie on Gorge Rd Staughton Vale.

Weather:

This walk should be able to proceed in most weather conditions.  If severe weather warning forecast this walk will need to be postponed.

ADVENTURE RATING:

YELLOW Traffic light - This hike has a very steep rocky hill at the start of the hike.   Once we climb to the top we will follow dirt tracks, rocky paths and gravel roads. There are some rocky sections but overall this is an enjoyable hike.   It is graded as Grade 3 circuit by Parks Victoria and should be easily achieved with a moderate degree of fitness.  It should take between 2.5 to 3 hours to complete.  Remember only you can decide if this adventure is right for you.
